HOW TO REGISTER FOR AN ELAM PROGRAM

 

Once your troop has decided what they'd like to do, please register as soon as is convenient. During our peak months (September, October, April and May) program spots fill up very quickly, especially on weekends. Even if you're not certain which program your troop would like to do, but you do know what day and time you would like, you can still register with the program "to be determined". 

 

Special events fill up very quickly as well. Some people are registering 8-12 months in advance. However, we put close-outs on waiting lists and we often are able to place quite a few into the desired programs. Troops are placed in the order they register so it pays to be an early sign-up.

 

If you cannot make a program or your number of girls changes, please contact the Elam Center so we can add more girls from the waiting lists and serve as many as we are able.

 

You may register for any Pick-A-Program or special event in three ways: 

  1. Filling out the Elam Program Registration Form and mailing it to the Elam Center 
  2. Emailing your request to elam@sealofohio.org 
  3. Contacting Grant Lewis at the Elam Center directly at (614) 878-1382

 

Program Times:  Pick-A-Programs: Choose a date and time convenient for your troop/group. We ask that you select alternate dates and times to best fit your group into the Elam program calendar. All Pick-A-Programs are subject to instructor availability.

 

All Special Events have pre-planned dates and times.

 

Where:  All programs are at the Elam Center located at Camp Ken-Jockety on the west side of Columbus.

 

Program Length:  Daisy programs are 1.5 hours in length.
Brownie programs are 2 hours in length. 
Junior programs are 2 hours in length
Cadette/Senior programs are 3 hours in length.

Special events vary in length.

 

Please arrive 15 minutes early to allow for bathroom breaks before the program starts. There is generally no scheduled break during the program.

 

Fee: 

All Pick-a-Programs are $6. Add $1 per girl if fee is late or paid at the door. Special events prices vary. See each individual invoice for the due date, which is generally two to three weeks before the program date. If payment is not received before or on the due date, there is a late fee of $1.00 per girl.

 

Important: Payment should only be sent upon receipt of confirmation packet with included invoice.  Checks that are received before placement has occurred will be returned.

Deadline for Sign Up: 30 days before chosen date.

 

Minimum/Maximum:  Pick-A-Programs:

Daisy programs have a 15 girl maximum 

All other ages are 7 girl minimum, 25 girl maximum. 

Smaller or larger groups should contact the Elam director.

 

Special Events all have unique minimums and maximums.

 

        
Other Important Information:

  • Placement letters and/or invoices will be sent with directions to the center. 
  • If you register for a special event that is taking place more than 3 months from the time you registered, expect that your confirmation and invoice will be sent approximately two months before the program date.
  • Please do not send money for any program or event until you get an invoice.
  • A minimum of 2 supervising adults must accompany each troop. One supervising adult must accompany individuals. 
  • No tagalongs at any program. 
  • Most programs take place outdoors, rain or shine, and are rarely canceled due to weather. Accommodations will be made based on current conditions. Come dressed for being outside. 
  • Troops are also encouraged to bring a portable snack to eat before the program (and a water bottle), unless the program specifically says food is provided. 
  • Individual Girl Scouts and Juliettes are welcome to join together with another group to participate in an Elam Pick-A-Program. Call Grant at Elam for more details at (614) 878-1382.
