VERY IMPORTANT: The following special events are open to Daisy Girl Scouts in the FIRST GRADE ONLY. Please read A NOTE ON PROGRAM AGE REQUIREMENTS FOR DAISIES below for an explanation.

DAISY PICK-A-PROGRAM OPTIONS

Twilight Wander
Wander your way through the woods and fields to experience the magical time before dark. Girls will use their senses to get in touch with nature and learn about nocturnal animals, night vision, echolocation and more. Program includes an indoor craft and outdoor exploration time. Patch is included.

Explore N' More
An active, hands-on program that will focus on different groups of catchable critters. Insects, fish, reptiles and amphibians could all be involved depending on the season. Lots of scooping, netting and catching as well as mud mucking and other ways of getting your hands dirty in nature. Program includes an indoor craft and outdoor exploration time. Patch is included.

Darby Creek Romp
Girls will get a first chance to experience creeking and use their lungs and feet to scream loudly and run from crawdads. This program is a fun and safe way to get girls out of their comfort zone while exploring a unique ecosystem in Darby Creek. Old tennis shoes and shorts required. Program includes an indoor craft and outdoor exploration time. Patch is included.

The Great Outdoors
Get a feel for some of the fun aspects of camping while getting comfortable with the great outdoors. We will roast marshmallows, sing songs and play games around the campfire. Program includes an indoor craft and outdoor exploration time. Patch is included.

Backyard Wildlife
A beginner's nature hike though the habitats of camp. We will look for signs and tracks of animals on their home turf. Girls will get to know their wild neighbors, go on a scavenger hunt and learn how to attract wildlife to their own backyards. Program includes an indoor craft and outdoor exploration time. Patch is included.

Mad Scientist
Experiment with all of the best our mad Elam scientists have to offer. A fun, first look at science for Daisy Girl Scouts. Prepare to be grossed out! This program is an indoor program. Patch is included.

A NOTE ON PROGRAM AGE REQUIREMENTS FOR DAISIES:

Recently, the Girl Scouts USA changed the age definition of Daisies to include kindergarten and first graders and Brownies to include second and third graders. This has posed an interesting situation for us, since nearly all Brownie special events and Pick-A-Programs were designed and are appropriate for first grade children. At the same time, the same programs are not appropriate for kindergarteners due to program length, amount of necessary walking, and/or maturity needed to comprehend the subject material.

When signing up for a special event, please note the age requirements carefully. These requirements are listed on each special event's page. Please do not ask us to accept younger children at these programs. It will not benefit them to attend a program that is not designed for them.  We've made the age requirement decisions with the best interest of all girls in mind.

If you have a mixed Daisy troop of kindergarten and first grade, you may wish to consider waiting a year so your entire troop can participate in special events. Although you can split the troop and bring only the girls old enough to the program, we would not advise this since it may result in hurt feelings of the younger girls.
