Horseback-riding programs

LakeView Ranch offers programs after school, on Saturdays and overnight. Details, fees and registration information are in the Event Planner Spring/Summer 2008.

lv9

To schedule horseback-riding programs, use the Date With a Horse coupon.

lv8

Supervision of girls

LakeView Ranch will provide a minimum of two trained horseback instructors for all horseback riding activities. Each troop/group coming to the ranch must be accompanied by a minimum of two supervising adults. Juliettes or girls coming as individuals must be accompanied by one supervising adult.

lv7

Absolutely no tagalongs. The riding staff supervises the girls only during the horseback riding classes. Accompanying adults supervise the girls the rest of the time, including camping at the ranch.

lv8

Can adults go horseback riding?

Adults may ride as a participant in the program; however, the council will serve girls first, depending on number of horses.

lv10

Adults who want to ride must register, pay the same fee as a girl, sign a horseback riding liability waiver and abide by all the program rules. Maximum capacity is 220 pounds.

Liability waivers
The council requires a liability waiver signed by the horseback riding participant and parent/guardian before a person can ride. The forms will be included in the placement packet.

Camping at the ranch
A 20-person unit is available at the ranch for troops attending a special overnight horseback-riding program such as "Bath and Body Works for the Horse." Overnight programs include the site fee for camping in the unit at the ranch. Participants sleep in non-heated four-person cabins with bunk beds and have a cooking shelter with stove, sink with running water, refrigerator, basic cooking equipment and picnic tables and have access to flush toilets and showers at the house. Overnight campers are responsible for their own food and meal preparation.

Especially for Juliettes
Girls registered individually as Juliettes are welcome to participate in horseback-riding programs at the ranch. A parent or other responsible adult must accompany the Juliette through the program at the ranch.

Please see the Event Planner Spring/Summer 2008 for details, fees and registration form.
