Day one of "Newly Realigned Council"--January 1, 2009

REALIGNMENT NEWS

Girl Scouts-Seal of Ohio Council has officially begun the realignment process to merge into one dynamic council with Heart of Ohio, and Heritage Trails.  Combined, these councils serve the Ohio Counties of: Wyandot, Crawford, Richland, Ashland, Wayne, Marion, Morrow, Knox, Holmes, Coshocton, Union, Delaware, Licking, Muskingum, Guernsey, Madison, Franklin, Fairfield, Perry, Fayette, Pickaway, Hocking, Ross, Highland, Pike, Vinton, Jackson, Gallia, Adams and Scioto.  This is an historic and exciting time for the Girls Scouts-Seal of Ohio Council.

Recently, Girl Scouts of the USA had undergone an unprecedented movement wide review in which all facets of our organization, from our structure, to our fundraising, have come under assessment.  We call it the Core Business Strategy.  It is the vehicle that will help us align our operations with our vision of meeting the needs and challenges of the girls of today and beyond.

The goal of realignment is to build a nation of high capacity Girl Scout councils who can deliver on the promise of the Girl Scout mission: to build girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place.  The Girl Scout organization is very proud of the work we are doing in a diverse environment committed to meeting the needs of girls – the hallmark of the Girl Scout organization for 95 years.

We are excited about the wonderful opportunities the newly realigned Council will provide for all of our girls, leaders, volunteers and staff, and we are looking forward to working with all of you as we advance in this process.

Stay tuned for more information to come in the upcoming months.
