President’s Award
The President’s Award recognizes the efforts of a geographic area team or program delivery team in moving its assigned area or audience toward achievement of the council’s goals during a fiscal or membership year.
Criteria:
The following criteria must be met to apply for the President's Award
1. Service Unit: Service Unit members have completed the following development(training): (List of names, training taken, and dates)
a) 100% of volunteers currently registered as 01’s for 1 year or more must have completed:
1. Basic Orientation
2 Basic Leadership
3. Safety Wise
4. Current age level leadership
b) 75% of volunteers currently registered as 02’s for 1 year or more must have completed:
1. Basic Orientation
2. Basic Leadership
3. Safety Wise
c) All registered troops must have appropriately trained 01’s and 02’s in line with SafetyWise guidelines.
d) Current council delegates, product sales chairs, and registrars must complete appropriate training.
2. Retention: Effective delivery of Girl Scout program resulting in the retention of 75% or above for ONE of the following.
§ 75% retention of troops/groups (excluding graduating senior troop)
§ 75% of troop/group leaders (01, & 02)
§ 75% of girl members (excluding graduating seniors)
3. Girl Membership: By the end of the membership year, September 30, girl membership for the service unit reached the membership goal agreed upon by the Service Team and Field Executive.
4. Diversity: The Service Unit/Team members reflect the diversity of the geographic area.
5. Community Contacts: The service unit has documentation of maintaining contacts/communications in the community.
6. Reports: Reports required by the council have been submitted on time.
a) The following paperwork must be submitted on time:
i) Product Sales
ii) Troop Finance Reports
iii) Service Unit Annual Financial Report
iv) Service Unit Inventory of Girl Scout Property
v) Leader appointment letters
7. Communication: The service unit uses a plan to contact representatives of each troop/group absent from service unit meetings and maintains ongoing communications with each troop/group and liaison for girls registered individually in its area.
Nomination: Members of the geographic area team or program delivery team submit an application for the award to the council’s recognitions task group documenting completion of the criteria and their results.
Approval: The council’s recognitions task group reviews the application and recommends approval or denial to the council board of directors. The council board of directors approves or denies the award and notifies the recognitions task group and geographic area team pr program delivery team.
Form of Recognition: The President’s Award is a plaque with the three girl’s profiles or eagle logo on it and a space for the geographic area or program delivery unit name to appear. Awards achieved in successive years are recognized by adding nameplates to the plaque. A certificate is also available.
Guidelines for Implementation
The council establishes procedures for applying for the award and informs all geographic area teams and program delivery teams of these procedures regularly.
The procedures are in congruence with the council’s overall membership development plan.
