Thank you Tree Planting Volunteers! |
 |
On November 4, Girl Scouts and their moms, dads, brothers and sisters took part in a special tree planting at Camp Ken-Jockety. As part of K-J’s prairie restoration project, Ashland Inc. generously provided funding for 100 bur oak trees to be planted among new prairie grasses at the site. With the planting of the trees, the area will soon be restored to its natural state as an oak savanna. Approximately 75 volunteers helped plant the new trees. Volunteers dug holes, planted the trees, watered them, put up protective netting around them and gave each one a name. Thank you to everyone who helped make the tree planting a success!

The 2008 Girl Scout calendar features the work of
a dozen individual Girl Scouts and troops, including Brownie Troop 1939 from Upper Arlington! Their piece, made from recycled materials, was selected for the month of March. To create “Earth is Our Home,” girls sketched scenes with flowers, animals and frogs and decorated them with recycled items they found at home. Troop leaders then created a composite from the sketches. Check it out! Copies
of the 2008 Girl Scout calendar are available for purchase in the Council Resource Store. |
